Det var manet til generalstreik torsdag 8 desember 1977, noe en forsamling på flere tusen arbeidere hadde stemt for. Blant dem var menn fra **SOC (kanarisk arbeiderforening) og *CNT (den nasjonale arbeidskonføderasjon). Mens den kommunistiske fagorganisasjonen ****CC.OO og ***UGT (arbeidernes allmenne fagforening) hadde umiddelbart fordømt bevegelsen.
